Mindful and Intuitive Eating

Mindful eating has the powerful potential to transform people's relationship to food and eating, to improve overall health, body image, relationships and self-esteem. Mindful eating involves many components including:

  • Learning to make choices in beginning or ending a meal based on  awareness of hunger and fullness cues;
  • Learning to identify personal triggers for eating (physical,  environmental, and emotional);
  • Valuing quality over quantity of what you're eating;
  • Appreciating the sensual, as well as the nourishing, capacity of  food;
  • Feeling deep gratitude that may come from appreciating and  experiencing food
Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Workshop
  • Understand why diets don't work for you or most other people
  • Discover simple yet powerful tools for knowing when, what, and how  much to eat
  • End mindless and emotional eating.
  • Find out how to eat the foods you love without guilt and without  bingeing
  • Stop obsessing about food, eating, your weight and free yourself to  live the full life you deserve
  • Nourish your body, mind, and spirit to build your health, energy,  and joy
    As an Am I Hungry?® Workshop Participant You Will:
  • Meet other people who desire an improved relationship with food  and eating.
  • Attend eight weekly workshops - 1 and 1/2 hrs in length -  guided by your Licensed Facilitator
  • Receive the award winning book Eat What You Love, Love What  You Eat: How to Break Your Eat-Repent-Repeat Cycle by Dr.  Michelle May
  • Receive an Eat Mindfully, Live Vibrantly Workbook and  Awareness Journal
  • Get password access to a private participant web portal where  you can discuss challenges and share your successes with your  classmates and write in a Private Online Journal.
  • Receive a brief daily Mindful Moment email from Dr. Michelle May  to keep you motivated and focused.
  • Have unlimited e-mail access to your Facilitator - to help  support you and deal with any issues that come up between  sessions.


    Am I Hungry?® Mindful Eating Workshop Descriptions:
    Week 1: In Charge, Not in Control

  • Examine the cycles of eating, and how they affect you.
  • Discover how some people are able to manage their weight  effortlessly by eating intuitively.
    Week 2: Trust Your Body Wisdom

  • Discover the power behind the question: Am I Hungry?
  • Learn how to let your body guide your eating by re-discovering cues  of hunger and fullness.
  • Discover how to eat the foods you love, following mindful eating  principles and an “all foods fit” model of nutrition.
    Week 3: Trust Your Body Wisdom

  • Learn what to do when you are not hungry, but want to eat.
    Week 4: What Am I Really Hungry For?

  • Discuss the environmental and emotional triggers that are behind  overeating.
  • Develop coping strategies to meet your true needs.
    Week 5: Fearless Eating

  • Discover three questions that can help you determine what to eat to  get the most satisfaction out of food.
  • Learn how to incorporate “forbidden foods” into your life without guilt  and without losing control.
    Week 6: Mindful Eating

  • Discover the power of eating with attention and intention as you  participate in a mindful eating exercise. You may never look at food  the same way again!
    Week 7: Just Right

  • Learn to eat just the right amount of food using your body’s natural  wisdom.
    Week 8: Self-Care Buffer Zone

  • Examine ways to bring mind, body, and spirit together for optimum  health
  • Discuss the need for balance, variety, and moderation in all things.
  • Discuss the role of self-care in creating a plan for lasting success.
